*“Hagva is all around us, Daygen. It dances in the skies, it lurks beneath the mountains, and it flows within the vast seas. It keeps our world whole, keeps everything in its place. But Hagva is anything but stable. All it takes is a small disturbance, like ripples in calm water. That alone is enough to cause immense destruction to our world. To us mages, the Hagva is both our friend and foe. Our task is not only to harness Hagva, but also understand it.”
— The Records of Duniya: Fall of Crowns (Chapter ???: Daygen Atelasten — Mazdavan Triyaton)*

Magic plays a prominent role in Daneva. Magic is used by harnessing the power of Hagva. Living things in Daneva are naturally born with the innate ability to control Hagva, however, that ability must be ‘awakened’ first. Humans who are able to use Hagva are usually called mages. Although there are also witches and shamans. They are not as respected as mages and are usually shunned by society. To activate their ability, mages must go through rigorous meditation and exhaustive training, committing and tuning themselves to nature. Some races, like elves and dwarves, are Hagva-sensitive, thus having an easier time of controlling Hagva.
Humans who are able to harness Hagva and use it to practice magic are usually called ‘mages’. However, this term is mostly deemed formal since mages usually study under other mages who are more experienced called Mazdavan.
